Benefit Highlights for Green Shield Canada – Health Assist Zone Plan

Benefit Details
Prescription Drugs: Depending on the Plan option chosen, coverage ranges from $2,500 to $10,000 per year, paid at 80% or 90% Co-payment and Pay-Direct Card, which allows your pharmacist to bill Green Shield Canada directly. Coverage for existing medications is excluded.
Dental Coverage: Depending on the Plan option chosen, coverage ranges from $700 to $1,300 per year paid 80% Co-payment with overall maximums increasing each year for the first three years.
Accidental Dental Coverage: From $5,000 to $10,000 per year.
Hearing Aids: $500 every 4 years for Hearing Aids.
Vision Care and Eye Exams: Starting from $150 up to $300 depending on the Plan option. From $65 to $80 every 2 years for Eye Exams.
Air and Land Ambulance: Air and Land Ambulances included.
Extended Healthcare Benefits: Up to $600 per year depending on plan option, $25 per visit per profession/service (physiotherapy, podiatry/chiropodist, acupuncture, chiropractic care, massage therapy); $600 per year for a psychologist.
Medical Items and Home Support Services: 1st year $2,000 2nd year $3,000 to 4,000 depending on plan option 3rd year+ $4,000 to $6,000 each year depending on plan option.
Emergency Travel: First 15 or 30 days of a trip outside of your province of residence receives $5,000,000 maximum per year depending on which option you choose. This plan is able to be topped up for trips longer than the coverage it offers.
Includes both Emergency Medical and quarantine enhancement coverage for Covid-19 regardless of whether government issued travel advisories are in place . See the Green Shield Canada Covid-19 FAQ for more information.

Quarantine Enhancement includes:

  • Meal and accommodation expenses of up to $150/day (to a maximum of $1,500) where quarantine is required outside of Canada (or within Canada and outside of a plan member’s province of residence) when you cannot board your pre-arranged transportation home
  • Medical expenses incurred during the quarantine period including extension of prescription medications and follow up COVID-19 tests
  • Additional expenses incurred for one-way economy fare to return home after you have completed your quarantine and are cleared for travel
  • Emergency medical expenses and the above quarantine expenses will continue to be eligible for up to 14 days in the event that the quarantine period causes you to be away from your province of residence beyond the maximum number of days per trip covered by your plan
