Money-Saving Travel Insurance Tips

Money-Saving Travel Insurance Tips:

  • Annual Plans: If you take more than one trip per year, you will probably save money with an annual plan, even if you just come home for the holidays and go back. An annual plan is a set amount of days that can be used multiple times. If a trip is longer than the annual plan, top-up days may be purchased for the rest of the trip.
  • Book as early as possible: Every year travel insurance companies increase their prices. Luckily you can book travel insurance six months before your departure date. Book in the late summer or early fall to make sure you get the best rates for your trip that leaves in the fall or winter. Be sure to ask how much you are saving to ensure it is worthwhile to book so early.
  • Book your insurance before an upcoming birthday: Travel insurance plans are priced based on medical conditions, but also on age bands. An ageing band might be 55-60 on one plan, but it might be 55-59 on another plan for example. Once your age increases, it could mean a big jump in the price of your travel insurance, so book before your birthday.
  • Contact your utility companies: Some companies may be able to suspend your services so that you won’t have to pay for them, or pay less, when you are away for an extended period.
  • Early Return Refunds: If you return home early and you have a travel insurance policy that is still in force for days you are not using, you can call us, and see if you qualify for an early return refund.
